Jackie SolomonJackie Solomon has worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services for 18 years.  She started her career with the Department as a Children Social Worker Trainee in November 1997.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology obtained from California State University Northridge in June, 1996.  Currently she is employed as a Children Service Administrator, with the Children’s Trust Fund Section of DCFS.  She has developed and created several opportunities to empower the foster care system.  In 2007, Jackie Solomon founded “One Child At A Time” Events.

As a Social Worker at that time, Jackie saw the need to create unique and life-changing experiences for foster youth.  With that in mind, One Child At A Time (OCAAT) was born, an event created to allow foster youths the opportunity to meet professional athletes, actors and actress, comedians, radio personalities and local politicians.  These OCAAT events and fundraisers benefit the Children’s Trust Fund of Los Angeles County, a 45 year-old organization supplying supplemental funding to foster families for critical needs.

Throughout the years, OCAAT has raised funds to be funneled to families for medical, dental, and other services that government funding cannot provide.  OCAAT has also given over 600 scholarships for foster youth and helped countless families within the foster care system of Los Angeles County.

The “One Child At A Time” events consists of two Celebrity Basketball Games hosted by Katt Williams in May 2008 and in July, 2009.  In 2010, “One Child At A Time” hosted a Foster Idol Concert event for foster youth within the foster care system.  In 2011, OCAAT hosted the Lil Jordan Celebrity Golf Tournament.  On June, 23, 2013, the Los Angeles Sparks teamed up with OCAAT to host the 3rd Annual “One Child at a Time” Celebrity Basketball Game held at STAPLES Center.

In her personal time, Jackie Solomon serves on several steering committees as an advocate for foster youths and has coordinated events like the 1st Charity Celebrity Basketball Game at Fairfax High School in May, 1996 and an Annual DCFS Prom Prep for female foster youth attending their Prom. She organized, coordinated as well as participated in the 1st “GET IT TOGETHER” Teen Power Summit in September, 1997.  She is also an Adult Supporter for California Youth Connection (CYC)/Teen Club from 1998-2003.
