Yetunde A. Odugbesan-Omede

Yetunde A. Odugbesan-Omede, M.Sc., Ph.DDr. Yetunde Odugbesan-Omede, M.Sc., Ph.D., is a Professor of Global Affairs. She teaches American Foreign Policy, Comparative Politics, Women in Comparative Politics, African Government and Politics, and Corruption Studies. She is a faculty member of the International Studies Department at Adelphi University and in the Department of History, Geography, and Politics at Farmingdale State College. Yetunde’s research focuses on how the socialization of corruption occurs and the effect it has on societal norms and institutions. She is a member of Transparency International Anti-Corruption Research Network (ACRN) and a researcher at Rutgers Institute of Anti-Corruption Studies (RIACS).

Yetunde’s interest in ethics, leadership, human rights, and counter-corruption studies has influenced her academic endeavors and profession. Dr. Yetunde received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Global Affairs from Rutgers University and her Masters of Science in Global Affairs with a concentration in International Law from Rutgers University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies with a double minor in Africana Studies and Organizational Leadership from Rutgers University as well. She has certificates in international relations, international business, applied leadership, and politics. She was a New Leaders Council Fellow, Rutgers Emerging Leaders Scholar, Ronald E. McNair Scholar, Minority Academic Careers Fellow, Eagleton Institute of Politics Fellow, and graduate of the United Nations Worldview Institute. She has worked with many reputable institutions and government agencies. She was the Assistant Editor for Public Performance and Management Review (PPMR), a leading peer-review academic journal that addresses a broad array of influential factors on the performance of public and non-profit organizations.

Dr. Yetunde is the author of the book, Young Woman’s Guide which provides personal and leadership advice for young women from all backgrounds. Dr. Yetunde has an online web TV show titled Bridging The Gap where she provides advice, life lessons, and empowerment tips to help people bridge the gap between who they are and who they want to become. In addition, she also has a Podcast titled, ASK Y, where she shares her thoughts on politics, topics relating to women, and provides advice on business and effective leadership. Her podcast is available for download on iTunes and SoundCloud. In addition, Dr. Yetunde is a public speaker where she speaks around the world on women and girl development, education, good governance, ethics, and leadership. She has been featured and interviewed in numerous publications and on-air media outlets. Dr. Yetunde is also the CEO of Yetunde Global Consulting. YG Consulting is a management consulting firm specializing in leadership development, organizational management, and global business strategies.

Dr. Yetunde has held many leadership positions. She is currently an at-large member of the Alumni Leaders Council (ALC) of Rutgers University Alumni Association and Advisory Board Member for Rutgers University Customer Service Certificate Program. Yetunde also served as a member of the National Presidential Search Committee who was charged with choosing the current sitting President, Dr. Robert Barchi of Rutgers University. Dr. Yetunde is a member of United Way of Essex and West Hudson Women’s Leadership Council. Dr. Yetunde is also the Vice-Chair of Leadership and Management for the United People for African Congress.

Her various passions and mission to pay it forward is often recognized in the various philanthropic and humanitarian initiatives she lends herself to. Yetunde was on the Board of Barack Obama Green Charter High School in Plainfield, NJ. She was appointed by the Mayor of Newark, Cory Booker African Commission as the Chair of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Advocacy. She was the former Chair of Youth Affairs for Nigerians in the Diaspora Organization (NIDO) and served as Board of Trustee for Red Thread Foundation for Women and Board Member for New York Needs You (NYNY). She is a member of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, United Nations Association of New York, Young Professionals for International Cooperation, Global Women Leadership Collaborative, and a mentor coach for various organizations.

During her graduate studies, Dr. Yetunde was elected as the first woman after ten years of its inception as the President of the Student Association of Global Affairs. She was also elected Vice President of the Graduate Student Government Association and President of Sigma Iota Rhota Honor Society for International Affairs. Her formative years also include numerous leadership positions and accolades.
